Jeff Pearce feels he may have a Triumph Hurdle candidate on his hands after Veiled made a winning debut over obstacles at Leicester.
The daughter of Sadler’s Wells hit the target three times on the level for Sir Mark Prescott before being snapped up for 48,000 guineas by current connections at October’s Tattersalls Sales. Sent off the 11-8 favourite in the hands of Wayne Hutchinson, Veiled was pulling double approaching the final obstacle. Although she met it on an awkward stride, the three-year-old picked up again to score by 10 lengths from Zepnove.
“I’ve never had a Triumph Hurdle horse and I think she could be very special,” said Pearce.
Bookmakers Stan James quote her at 33/1. Charlie McCann of Stan James said “she was very impressive”.
