70% OF PUNTERS SIDING WITH KAUTO STAR AS WAR OF THE WOLDS COUNTDOWN CONTINUES!
Despite opinion polls barely splitting the famous duo, bookmakers William Hill today report that Kauto Star is attracting significantly more betting support in the Gold Cup than his stablemate Denman as the Countdown to Cheltenham continues.
Kauto Star Gold Cup Favourite
The dynamic duo head the betting for the forthcoming Gold Cup with Kauto Star available at 5-4 with Hills, and Denman the 9-4 second-favourite. Despite his shorter price, nearly three-quarters of the bets taken by Hills on the duo are in favour of the reigning champion.
Kauto Star’s mesmerizing performance in the William Hill King George saw him transpose Denman at the head of the Gold Cup betting. Post-race, Hills offered 7-4 about Kauto Star in the Gold Cup, but since Boxing Day punters have quietly helped themselves to all rates down to his current odds of 5-4.
David Hood, spokesman for William Hill, said: ‘’Denman set a fearsome target with his Hennessy victory, but Kauto Star simply raised the bar again with his staggering win in the William Hill King George. This has clearly tipped the balance for punters, with 70% of bets on the pair going in favour of Kauto Star.’’
Away from the big two, Cooldine has proved popular in the Gold Cup ahead of his Irish Hennessy bid on Sunday. Hills have trimmed his odds to 16-1 from 20-1 in the outright betting, and to 4-1 from 5-1 without Kauto Star and Denman.
