Classy novice Bensalem heads the betting for the William Hill Trophy at the Cheltenham Festival after 88 entries were revealed for the three-mile, one-furlong, handicap today.
The seven-year-old ranks as the 7-1 clear favourite with sponsors William Hill, ahead of 12-1 chances Siegemaster, and The Tother One.
Novices have struck a rich vein of form in the William Hill Trophy in recent years with Fork Lightning, Dun Doire, and last year’s winner Wichita Lineman all taking honours in the last six renewals.
Other notable entries include Racing Post Chase gambles Kilcrea Castle and Miss Mitch, who rate alongside Grand National second-favourite Niche Market at 14-1, plus entries from old favourites Monkerhostin , and Old Vic both available at 16-1.
