Grandouet Looks Triumph Hurdle Prospect

Barry Geraghty has enthused about Grandouet after winning on him at Ascot on Saturday.

Nicky Henderson’s French import was beaten on his first two starts in the UK but has now landed back to back wins and is favourite for the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham and his jockey believes the youngster is improving all the time.

“He was very good and settled beautifully having been keen in the past,” Geraghty told At The Races. “He jumped very professionally and won as easily as you’d ever see one win. “He’s definitely going the right way and I think he’s improved since he was second to Sam Winner in Cheltenham. “He has plenty of pace and would go on any ground. He’s very versatile.”

Pass The Port? Burton Port Remains Unchanged for RSA Chase.

Burton Port gave doubles to Nicky Henderson and Barry Geraghty when landing the Grade 2 Reynoldstown Chase at Ascot.

Previously unbeaten over fences, the 4-6 favourite came under a little bit of pressure turning into the home straight, and for a few strides it looked as though long-time leader Diablo might not stop in front.

Stan James left Burton Port unchanged for the RSA Chase at 20/1 but cut Fairyhouse winner Alaivan from 10s to 7s for the Triumph after his smooth victory in their Grade 2 Hurdle.
